How to Order Wallpaper Rolls

Once you have your measurements, put them into our wallpaper calculator in inches or centimeters. Click “Calculate,” and you’ll see an estimate of how many wallpaper rolls or panels you’ll need of each of our wallpaper types along with the price .

Please note: for a general idea of how much wallpaper you’ll need, use the wallpaper calculator that’s linked above. Once you know which design you want, use the calculator on that page for the most accurate calculation.

Our Peel and Stick and Pre-Pasted wallpapers are available in 3-, 6-, 9- or 12-foot-long sections. Our Non-Pasted, Metallic, Vinyl and Grasscloth wallpapers are available in 3-, 6-, 9-, 12- or 27-foot-long sections. Our wallpaper calculator will round up to choose the roll length that is slightly larger than needed for the target wall. For example, if your wall is 8 feet high, our wallpaper calculator will show the amount of panels or rolls needed for a 9-foot wall. If your wall is higher than 12 feet, our calculator will only show the wallpaper types that are available in 27-foot-long rolls.

Depending on the repeat size of the selected design, more wallpaper might be required. For the best estimate, we recommend calculating your coverage from the product page of the design you want to use. The wallpaper calculator is purely an estimate based on the measurements provided. Spoonflower is not responsible for shortages or overages.

Here’s an explanation of our different pattern repeats.

Straight Match

Most of our wallpapers are printed with a straight match. This means it’s easier to work with because you won't need to offset rolls when hanging the paper. With straight match paper, you’ll hang each roll right next to each other to create a seamless repeat with the pattern. To help match this pattern as you install, we also include an approximate 0.5" (1+ cm) of overlap down the right side of each roll. This helps in aligning the design when hanging.

Half Drop

A small amount of our wallpaper designs are half drop repeats (with one large repeat widthwise). This style of repeat gives a wider visual impact after installation, but it also means that every other panel must be manually offset by half the vertical design repeat during installation. This means you’ll need to pay close attention to alignment and may need to order slightly longer panels of wallpaper so you have enough product.

Vertical Repeat

A vertical repeat is the distance from the top of a design to the point where the design begins again vertically on the wallpaper. When ordering 27' rolls (available for Non-Pasted, Vinyl, Grasscloth and Metallic wallpapers), you need to know the vertical repeat size to determine exactly how much paper you'll need for your space if you’re doing manual calculations. The 27' (823 cm) roll length will need to be cut during installation to easily match one panel to the next.

We recommend ordering an extra wallpaper roll or two for your project. This gives you some wiggle room in case of installation errors, for future touch-ups or repairs, or in case the design is discontinued at a later time. Purchasing a little extra also ensures that every roll comes from the same machine and is a perfect color match.
